New Project was created by MigCooper
After selling my Jimny years ago it is time to start a new project
It is a 2007 Jimny and the first thing i got done was a snorkel. problem is this uncovered quite a bit of rust under the body. I decided to get it all sorted and repaired so this is where we are at the moment

Just to add to the previous post, this is a quick overview of what will be done: Possible i missed a step or 2.
BTW this is being done in a garage, not by me.
1. Remove all require parts to access as much as possible. (Done)
2. Sandblasting
3. Weld and repairs
4. Galvanizing
5. Inner chassis treatment with some sort of wax.
6. Put it all back together

Out of curiosity, what have others paid for this type of work?

I would expect that to be charged on an hourly rate and I would further expect to pay a hundred plus an hour at a reputable restoration company. A roadworthiness bodge job would be less.

They are charging me around €3.5k
They gave me the figure once it was taken apart. I thought it was very reasonable and they are certified to do this work for DOE in Ireland.

Looks like a thorough job! Quick question - step 4 - galvanising? What have they galvanised? Doing the chassis is a full body off strip down job...

Spray on Galvanizing is Just one step up from American powder coating when it comes to rust prevention in my book.
It also says some sort of wax wich is good and the combo is very good.
Real Galvanizing is dipping the complete part in heated acid and then heated zinc.
Wich in some cases will warp a car frame.
I got my trailer frame dip galvanized, wich went fine because I boxed it off to prevent the warping. And I was prepared it might get warped.

I was assuming he was referring to real galvanising TBH, I didn't know "spray on" galvanising was possible, but in this context that makes more sense.
