I am an electrician and although vehicle electrics differ, the principles of current flow vs resistance vs voltage dont change.

Reapers philosophy on this subject is sound.

60Ah split charging system,ok why is this please?
If I want to charge a 110Ah don't I need one that's rated for that ?

Cheers =)

This is because your jimny alternator only gives out 60Ah, you only need to trickle charge an auxilary battery.

I ran two batterys without a split charge and found when winching the alternator struggle to give full power and one battery would drain the other without fully charging both them up.
Go with reapers advise, its nice and simple could even fit some gauges to double check readings.

This is not an automatic split charge system it's only a manual relay and a very expensive one at that, you can get the same relay here www.vehicle-wiring-products.eu/VWP-onlin...lays/relays.php#high
for £16 which means you're paying £54 for a couple of fuse holders, a bit of wire and a few cable ties.
I think you're after one of these, can someone confirm it's "big" enough?

What you need is electric system similar to boat system.
The two batteries are not connected but have a split charging system.
One of the batteries is the main battery, used to start the engine and the second battery is for all other consumers.
This way even if you run out of battery you will be able to start.
