towbar bought. bumper off.

Towbar is on it's way, thanks to ooky for his eforts, but I've ordered a new one. instructions simply say to remove rear bumper. how is this done please..

I fitted my witter removable one without removing the bumper, dead easy. If you need to remove the bumper though, open the back door and you'll see a few screws, might be 10mm bolt head x 3 or 4. and then look at the wheelarches, if youve not cut the wheelarches out there'll be a 10mm bolt and a couple of the plastic clips. Also (I think !) at the bottom of the bumper theres 2 more screws.

Bumper removal made easy ...


1. Undo the two bolts (10mm I think) in the wheel arches On the top...
2. Open Back door, remove 2 bolts that hold the light clusters in
3. Remove light clusters (Offside is a bit fiddly)
4. Undo the 3 bolts you can see below the rear door seal, and the bolt each side under the light clusters
5. Under the rear bumper, across the bottom, you will find a few small bolts (10mm again) that hold the bumper lower edge to the chassis.

Stand Back and wiggle ... the whole lot will come off.

Electrics pass through a Bungee on the near side.
The Tow Bar mounts around the recovery eyes, and there are captive bolts / nuts inside the chassis rails.


Total time for Bumper removal 10 minutes.

Refit is the reverse.
To fit the offside light cluster, close the door .. it should just slip in.. gently tap to secure.

Wen you fit the towbar, you may want to use a trolley Jack or get a second pair of hands to locate the bar into position whilst you get a bolt or two in to secure it.

The wiring details are easy, justr a case of removing the rear seat and the side panel.

At what stage did you need to remove the seats and side panel?

Just curious how you've done yours or what the instructions said. I took the shortest and easiest option of doing it behind the bumper and the relay is behind the side panel

Remove the seats and the side panel to get at the wiring loom ..

Didn't go anywhere near that far!!! I'm going to re do the wiring and solder the connections so it'll be a seats out effort!!!

all done and dusted. towbar and electrics installed and working. Can start my garden now! Thanks to all thoses who've helped
