what engines fit was created by vitara_mad
is there any other engines that will be a straight swap into a sohc jimny as we finding it difficult or very expensive to find a jimny engine

or a engine that will at least fit the gearbox & require wiring up & new mounts making

basicly any info you can give on fitting any engine into the jimny would be great

thanks

Baleno 1.6 fits, martin sells the adapters www.bigjimny.com/store/index.php/jimny-p...aptor-kit/p_120.html

Peugeot 1.7 diesels were popular in sj,s but i've not seen many in Jimnys of course though anything can be made to fit if you have the skills at your disposal.

Black Jimny's don't get stuck!

There's a Baleno 1.6 on ebay at the moment, £250 with free delivery. 230580431254

Why not go retro and fit a 1300 SJ engine, Just make sure you change the carb ;)

i believe the old 1.6 Vitara fits. the top two bolts go straight in and new holes needed for the bottom two.
The carb engine is best, no electronic probs. Maybe a slight bit of work to fit the starter and alter the engine mounts.

Question, will the single cam Jimny electronics suit the Baleno engine?

I live less than a mile from Broadbent Auto Spares and have dealt with them. Engines usually come bare. No alternator, starter, manifolds, etc. Sometimes they can't be bothered and you get absolutely everything ! You need to check as you will need manifolds, injection, etc if you go down this route. You will need ECU n airflow meter etc to be safe, but only about 4 pins need to be connected. Think Jimny ECU and loom is different.
I've fitted an Astra 1.7 turbo diesel. It was a lot of work and quite a challenge. Best O Luck.

Whilst on about the G13BB engine. I've heard about customisers in the USA fitting Suzuki Swift G13BB engines with turbo, intercooler, modified manifolds, 8 injectors and Nitro's injection. 200+Bhp ( and quite reliable. Now there would be a seriously fast Jimny !!!!! ( And probably a seriously empty bank account ? )

It is the Renault 1.5 Diesel engine.

Looking at the parts manual, the geabox/bell housing assemblies are completely different between the Diesel and Petrol models so its going to be difficult to join the two together.
