Cylinder 2 misfire cold start was created by Dimitris
Hello
I got a Jimny 2005 and I have an issue. When the weather is cold the car in the morning starts easily but its not sounds well. If i press the gas pedal between 1500 and 2000 rpm the engine light is blinking. If the car get warm then it works just fine. The scanner shows the error "misfire cylinder 2". Does anyone experienced something similar?
I must say that I have already replace spark plugs and coils.

What did the old plugs look like? Was the plug from cylinder 2 a different colour to the others?

I am not sure about the colour. I thought about the injector on cylinder 2 but it works good when it's warm. What sensor finds the misfire on cylinder?

Misfire is usually detected by the crank position sensor, it expects to see the 'kick' in rotational speed for each firing and if it doesn't it knows it was a misfire. It then uses the crank position vs the spark plug firing to know which cylinder didn't fire.
The reason for asking about colour was looking for cylinder head gasket, rings, or a sticking valve, but if it runs fine when warm you might not notice any difference in plug colour.
It could be a faulty injector, that works well enough when warm but is sluggish when cold.
I take it you battery is well charged?

The crank position sensors are a known point of failure, snd fairly cheap and easy to replace.

I doubt it’s the crank position sensor, a faulty one wouldn’t give a misfire on cylinder 2 only, it’s would be on different cylinders.
If it is only on cylinder 2 then it is going to be something specific to cylinder 2. You have changed plugs and coils, so an injector is the next thing, unless there is something more seriously wrong with cylinder 2.

Swap the plug, injector & coilpack from No 2 with another cylinder & see if fault follows, if it does you're down to the 3 items, if it doesn't it could well be mechanical.

If it suddenly breaks, go back to the last thing that you did before it broke and start looking there

Do a compression test when cold and see if cylinder #2 is lower than the others.
A burnt exhaust valve will cause enough compression loss for a missfire at idle, but seem to get better when the engine is running at speed.

Hello again. Now that the temperature in the morning is near water freezing point the problem appears again. Compression test is ok. New spark plugs and coils. Swap the injectors with no difference. Compression is ok. When the engine gets hot , it runs just fine. Any idea by someone? Thanks

Are the spark plugs correctly torqued and the plug leads correctly and firmly seated on the plugs
