I see maximum roof load capacity not roof bars.

With the Gen 4 it looks like it bolts to the gutter, so I'd imagine that is the first issue sorted.

For gen4, everywhere that the suzuki roofbars are mentioned, 30kg is also mentioned. But not anywhere else.wjamieson wrote: I hope you are correct but where does it say the roof bars are rated at 30 kgs? This would compare to 100 kgs for Thule square bars.

Aftermarket roof bars always mention 30kg for earlier jimnys but not for gen4 as here:-

Static load we've had over 200kg and no issue with the rain gutter strength. The front runner 3/4 rack is rock solid compared to the Thule bars we used to use but even with 3 of those the tent and 150kg occupants was fine.
Certainly not saying doing this is without risk. Works for us and I'm doing thorough checks of the bars, feet and rain gutters at every opportunity. No sign of any movement, sag or damage.
I don't do challenging off-roading, it's just enough to reach a decent camp in the woods or easy road access.
So far the only noticeable hit is fuel economy.
