hi mate,i have a good idea for you..... dont waste your money on an external cage!!!! unless you are going to fit an internal cage and link them together, because if you roll the jimny hard with just an external cage it will twist and damage the body anyway,i might have opened a bag of worms here especialy with the guys with external cages, but in truth they are only good for rubbing against trees and rocks, sorry guys in advance but iam entitled to my opinion, ner ner ner ner

cheers mate what about just an internal then would that be ok or will they only do their job with both? sorry im useless with all this but want to get in good offroading use before i start, and im still 50-50 with what tyres to get id rather all terrain as its easier for road and offroad use, but if the MT are better i'll just have to keep swapping when i want to go off roading, the reason im doing lift kit first now before wheels as i may put bigger tyres on, im just lost with it all atm the moment

External cages alone are basicly body savers ,and internal for head protection .
as said best set-up is both internal and external cages linked , but that may be a bit overkill for greenlaning and the odd pay and play
Best of both worlds with tyres will be bfg mt's or khumo kl71's

hi mate, regarding the cage dilema, internal for protection of the driver but bodywork suffers, external for protection against tree rubbing/rock rubbing ETC.

Exactly :-)
For true protection when rolling over internal cage is the only thing.

Add to that, many external cages are a strange fit.. You could fit an entire extra jimny between the body and the tubing. In some cases even fit a 130" Defender.

not on ours
having seen monkey' s being a write off after a gentle roll on its side, I'm glad ours has an external cage as the previous owner had it on its side and its still offroading, :) and yes it is good at sqeezing through gaps and over rocks and for leaning on trees

If you're driving a jimny fast enough to roll it on the road then you're driving it too fast - get a mini
