yes they do

Do not fear, simply put the new plain key from the keybar on the same ring as the old key with the chip in, and the immobiliser will be able to read the chip in the old key and all will be well. ;)

However, if you lose the key it is £1,000,000 for suzuki to sort out new keys. (Don't know why, they should have a record of the key codes, both the jagged metal part and the transponder, and you should just be able to order one from the VIN number)

If it suddenly breaks, go back to the last thing that you did before it broke and start looking there :)

hi there i only had one key and the day i was going to get a new one it snapped in the lock i got the piece out and had a new one cut. mine is a 2000 model and they do have transponders in and they cost £75. I have since got another cut and just taped the old transponder too it and it works fine, alot cheaper fix.

thanks

I only had one key when I bought my jimny- but it was not a transponder key- just a normal steel/brass key.
But whilst i was fitting an alarm and tidy sounds, and had the car in bits, and studied the circuit diagrams, I thought someone had bypassed the immobilizer . Because it was clearly on the drawings.
But when i had the plastics off around the wheel, I found the Transponder key Cable tied to the top of the ignition barrel .

So god knows how long it had been there. !
There is a local key cutting firm- thats mobile that charges £6 for normal cut, and £40-60, but he said it depends on the key.
He parks up in a local pub carpark a few times a week, next time hes there i'll find out more info.
