Thank Rich, I'll drop him an(other) email... ;)

Do you know if his kit needs hub spacers (and therefore manual free wheel hubs)? as I was hoping to keep mine air based (to save the LSD being "on" on-road) and getting in and out betwwen 'lanes to turn the hubs off and on...

Coming slowly... still lots to do...
  • Finish the winch/wiring, and fit Odyssey battery in ORA mount
  • Fit the Rockwatt Rocklobster box
  • BigJimny Breather Kit
  • Rear ARB Air-Locker
  • Front Rob Storr 26 Spline Shafts for:
  • Calmini Front LSD (pinch from Zukhini)

  • Be unstoppable with all that kit on ! Looking forward to seeing the finished article.

Yes, not a problem with an open diff, but with an LSD in, even not driven by the prop, it's still "active" across the diff with the manual hubs on, so (with a Vitara) I tend to get out between 'lanes if we've some miles of tarmac and switch it off, but with air hubs I wouldn't have that hassle... That's what I'm aiming for - nice onroad manners (albeit with the ARB removed), and then when we get to a 'lane - if required - fire up the compressor and engage the rear ARB diff, select 4WD on the transfer case, and the vac air hubs engage and connect the LSD in, and off we go... with a Rockwatt Rocklobster and some traction aids, should be almost as good as a Vitara ;) even if I'm "only" on 235/35's and the rest of our group are on 31"s / 32"s...

Thanks Gaz, me too... a couple of months off probably, but soon be out in it, and then "retire" the Zukhini...

No Mick, won't be ready for then, I'll still be in the LWB "Zukhini" Vitara for a couple of months before the as-yet-un-named Jimny gets out for some extreme 'laning with the rest of our little group ;)

Some more photos (for my blog), having bolted the Rockwatt Rocklobster box to the Rockwatt bucket mount this morning, fits like a glove!

box on it's mount B) (Notice the BigJimny box on the bonnet = breather kit)

"Franken-case" newly refurbed/sandblasted half meets original oily half

From underneath... a work of art B)

Picking up a couple more mounts to brace the box in it's cradle...

More soon, must get some oil for it... and some spare time! Busy weekend, so back on this soon...

Quick update, got an email from the ORA last night, to confirm my roll hoop before they bend it up B)

Dimensions are in inches as they use american computer based bending software and machinery...

Hope i've measured it right! ;)

As my Jimny is a soft-top with a hard-top fitted to the rear, I thought it wise to take the precaution of fitting a roll hoop and stays, it will be sandwiched through the floor with these feet plates from the ORA too...

And today it turned up with a carrier -

The ends of they stays have been notched ready for welding to the top crossbar...

... and the feet -

With sandwich plates under the floor -

Looks like I was half an inch out with my sketch!

So I just need to cut a little off the bottom of the feet tubes, and weld the X-cross pieces onto the foot plates, and I'm done... get it tacked, welded up, and then off for powder-coating...

MANY THANKS TO THE ORA! B)
