... particularly when you consider I use aJimnys anti-roll-bar disconnect system when driving greenlanes for the day?!...
So there’s no particular strain on the drop links...

Though an unrelated car, I changed the Anti roll bar drop links on my Citroen C2 after 7 or 8 years on the originals. The replacements were advertised as "heavy duty", 6 months later they were clonking worse than the originals had after 80,000 miles, and were changed for a set of genuine ones.

Got a couple of hours off - flu jab this afternoon - so whipped the SuperPro drop links off and sent them back to have a look at them, they are indeed furbared! Nice letter with them explaining that these heavy duy versions have only been on for two and a half years and in conjunction with a JimnyBits antil-roll-bar disconnect system, so that they're not even under the rigorous strain of the monthly greenlaning trip as they are free to move around as the bar is always disconnected for a day's "offroading"...

Managed to get the afternoon off today. as I lost my Wednesday off
So...
New standard drop links fitted...
And then onto searching for the crack
Suspension component attachment bracket / mounting likely to fail Nearside Rear (Panard rod mount fractured)
x
I wasn't sure where he meant? Here? Looks like there's no original weld here?
So I wondered around to the garage and he said he'd marked it with chalk?
Hmmm...
Lots of yellow chalk lines but I still couldn't see anything?...
So again I wandered around for another consultation...
A hairline crack here in the internal corner, god knows how he spotted that, I had to clean the surface before I could even see it!
I'd even jacked it up under the radius arm and under the panhard mount off the chassis looking for cracks!
So I welded it up, and added a welded washer over that oval hole for now...
Reminds me I must beef up that spare axle in the garage and fit it sometime... when the buggy is hopefully finished next summer? I have half an idea of using the buggy in th warmer months whilst I take the big fells off the road for some remedial works?...
MOT retest around 'tea time' tomorrow...
And Sunday in the garage as it looks to be wet and chilly?............
