So then Martin. The weather has been good over the last few months, in the main anyway. Where is Bigjimny at now?

The rear axle is back on and the Jimny is sitting on its wheels.

I was playing around with some different combinations so no photos at present as the shocks are on upside down and I didn't want to confuse anyone with the pictures.

The Jimny is away on holiday at the moment as we are moving house. Therefore I have moved it to temporary accomodation to save having to shift it on the day of the move.

When its back it needs the shocks putting on the correct way and the trailing arms need to be looked at as the axle is currently not sitting straight.

Oh dear - are the new brackets welded on in exactly the right places?

drill and tap for a bigger fitting. Should be possible to find something that fits.

Or perhaps try chemical metal. When it's fully hardened it's possible to tap thread in it as well.

Or, the place 'we' buy fittings for breather kits sell bulkhead connectors?

Hadn't thought of them, I think it needs to be 3/16 internal thread which may be a challenge

Isn't the thread irrelevant? As long as the nylon air line from the compressor fits in one side of the bulkhead connector (push fit connector?) and then the copper line from the diff / actuator fits into the other side, you can drill for any size connector through the diff housing? No?

Dave

The copper tube is terminated in a flare end with a 3/16 brake pipe style male fitting on the end. You can just see it in this picture I did not include in the article. Devon 4x4 do the replacement fittings but as the casing tapped thread also appears to be missing/non-existent I think it will not seal correctly which is why I am considering my options.

Looking closely, it really looks like casing was never tapped. It looks like the fitting was installed with a hammer
