Occasionally I will be using my recently bought 2000 1.6 Vitara 4U to tow a LOGIC flail mower around a paddock and on the road (from one site to another).

Ideally I'm after one that I can remove the swan neck from when it's not in use.
Having had a look around the various ones on the web/eBay I'm confused as to which is compatible.

Can anyone help please?

Thanks for looking,
Bern

The SWB petrol models all use the same towbar. The genuine Suzuki aftermarket towbar had two additional long bolts that went up through the chassis and gave a much stronger mounting, the Suzuki electrics kit for it was also plug in so no butchery with Scotch-Loks.

Some Suzukis and a bunch of motorcycles.

The Suzuki towbar was made by Bosal (016-172), I'm sure that it could be sourced cheaper. The tow rating on the towbars without the extra bolts is much lower.

We are just back from first holiday this year (a couple of days near Southwold on the east coast).

"The Suzuki towbar was made by Bosal (016-172), I'm sure that it could be sourced cheaper. The tow rating on the towbars without the extra bolts is much lower."

This was exactly the sort of guidance I was after.
I'll have a search around for a Bosal unit and those extra bolts with the Suzuki plug in electrics kit.
The fitting instructions are also much appreciated.

If anyone comes across all or some of the above then please let me know.

Thank you for the replies so far,
Bern

I've found a tow bar for a Vitara MkI on gumtree here www.gumtree.com/p/car-part-accessories/s...1-towbar./1134634271

Would this fit my 4U?

That will fit, make sure that you get the six bolts and the special nuts that go on top of the chassis.

Some Suzukis and a bunch of motorcycles.

Thank you for all the help.

I put a second hand one on Saturday afternoon.
The only problem was one of the large bolts (right hand side as you look at the rear) had been bent when it was taken off the donor.

As the towing ball slightly obscured the number plate I took it off and will refit when I need to tow.
