My Chiffon Ivory JB74 SZ5 - blog/mods/build thread
I also miss this and it's very much a modern vehicle thing. Luckily I can still get my fix (pre Virus) at Paddocks for my 1960 Land Rover, I walk in with an obscure part and the chap on the counter goes and gets a new one. Never been able to stump them, same happens at Ecas for my 2CV parts.Lambert wrote: I miss the days of going into the parts counter and waiting 10 minutes for a shop coat to wander into the shelves and return with the parts I needed in hand.
I guess the common ground here is that the manufacture's no longer has any interest in the vehicles and so part support is being provided specialist.
Yokohama Geolanders, Sony head unit, NAUTILUS Air Horn, DRL conversion, Rear cargo space, Elvis Bobblehead, transfer Guard, Indian hanging Elephant, Koni Heavy track dampers, Custom SS exhaust, Voodoo Doll, Adventure Rack with LED ight bar, vintage ERIBA caravan usually attached (yes it's slow)

So the dealership called mid afternoon. Pleasant surprise, the Jimny was ready for collection. I had in my mind it would be Thursday. So thumbsup for the speedy turnaround
They replaced the transfer box with another unit. I don't know any specifics or if anything else was changed/adjusted.
I have been and tested it this evening. And thus far (fingers crossed....) it has worked perfectly. So I'm hoping this has solved the problem and that is was just a freak occurrence.
I gave it quite a good testing this evening and drove through every cross axle situation I could find or know of on our off road test section. In the interests of scientific endeavour. I will of course conduct these experiments through-out the rest of the week. Just to make sure
The curtesy Ignis is gone. Not that it was a bad car I'm sure. But the Jimny is so much more. As in much nicer to sit in and drive.
Now I can see about getting re-booked in for the tyres to be changed. Then maybe a spot of laning.

The tray is fine for a decade old iPhone 5, but a modern larger phone does not fit. Come on Suzuki, how can you make such a basic error! It is unforgivable, well almost.
If I had the precise dimensions of that small tray (bottom Length × Width; top Length × Width; vertical height; corner radii) I may come up with a groundbreaking working solution. I already manufactured dedicated custom CarPlay docks for pretty much all iPhone models in the past, for other vehicles.
My father was about to buy a new Jimny when the car was unexpectedly withdrawn by Suzuki due to pollution fees So it's up to you lucky owners to make these measurements and give them to me. Howto: mold the inner part of the tray with some special paste (e.g. alginate dental paste or Plasticine, or any other similar adequate modling paste) then mp me with pictures. The first person who would mail me a good moulded inner part of the tray would gain a free dock for his/her phone
Another solution: find the OEM reference of that little piece of plastic, the front tray below the USB port, if it's available somewhere separately (it comes with all new Jimnys with manual gearbox) so that I could order one and design a dock that would perfectly fit. Then, you would just have to slide your smartphone vertically into the iPhone Carplaydock when sitting in the car, to automatically connect it to the head unit! That would be pretty cool, wouldn't it?

Thanks. I will try to find some place with cheaper parts & shipping than ordering one from Japan. But it's good to see that it is available. Will keep you updated here.

However it is not in UK warehouse, Germany warehouse or Romania warehouse. Therefore it is a back order item with an uncertain lead time.
If you want it I can order but it might be a wait. I can ask Japan for an estimate for delivery if you are serious.

Not sure I would be any help with getting a mould tbh. Don’t really have the stuff to do it. Also not sure how to measure the radii
I would be interested in the item you are saying about creating though. Where are you in the UK? I guess if the distance is sensible I could drive to you if you wanted to take a mould. I’m in the Beds/Bucks area.

Martin, I have found it in Germany at 25.25 € VAT and shipping included, so a total of about £22.92. I think I will order it. The price would be higher shipping from Japan in my opinion. I have found it at an even lower price elsewhere, but from a seller in the United Arab Emirates and through a Russian web site… I won't risk registering bank & personal info to check if this one is legit or not.
