Hello All
If you are offended by food in the natural state, do not look further.
This is my second Jimny, a 2014 Sz4, purchased new to replace a 2001 tired model. I use the vehicle predominantly as a "One Man Shooting Wagon" for Deer Management in SE Englandshire, and being of a certain age I need assistance with the manual handling issues involved with some of the larger animals that I have to deal with alone.
My previous Jimny had a roof gantry that I designed and installed using the roof rails as anchor points, which worked fine, but given the fragility of the roof rail attachments, this was never a perfect solution for suspending a carcass of up to 100 Kgs.
The replacement solution was dreamed up by myself, but brought to reality by a fabricator in one of the local yacht marinas, and it not only works very well, but is a much more discreet and elegant solution to the problem.
The 3D brackets are installed on the rear seat belt attachments, and the interior grab handles have been removed and brackets fabricated to provide anchor points for the fwd cross rail.
The longitudinal box section and the main bar are a sliding fit, which are very quick to assemble and don't rattle in transit, even over rough ground.
Next month the rear cargo area will be lined out with checker plate and sealed to the marine ply so as to prevent fluids leakage into the underfloor. I shall also install LED lighting to the interior, and I'm thinking about addition 12v socket for an exterior lamp.
So far, I have fitted modest 30mm wheel spacers, and Changed to Hankook AT tyres 205x70x15, which so far appear to be alright on road, but not so special off road IMHO. I have a 40mm lift kit, but have not yet installed it.
A few photos to help explain the modification :
Seats and rear armrests removed and marine ply floor installed , the assembly is stowed within roof line.
Gantry components dismantled for stowage.
Interior cross beams and gantry support
Z Gantry mounted in place for lift
All in place & lifting a 55 kg Fallow Doe on a narrow forest track
Thats it really, nothing spectacular , but another application for the Jimny that works very well, even as a 'work in progress' .
Thanks for looking
Peter

All I can say is that is a well thought out design. Nice little hunting rig.
Certainly not feeling offended.......maybe a little jealous.

that looks spot on and fit for purpose
would it be possible to take a photo
from the front facing out the rear door
as i was thinking about mounting my spare up in the roof
not offended by one man and his gun
but am offended by 20 horses 30 hounds

Hi Jack
Thanks for the +ve comments.
I'm away at work presently, and for a further 3 weeks on the edge of The World, but I'll gladly take the pic when I return to "civilisation".
IMHO mounting the spare inside the roof is doable, if you're prepared to lose the headspace, and are fit enough to lift it in and out.
Sorry that I can't be of immediate help

I am pretty impressed I have seen a few (Pictures not in person) hoist set ups on trucks but this is by far the most tidy and discreet set up, looks well strong enough as well.
How do you get on with gun storage? Currently I just use gun bag in the back but even though it hasn't so far I don't want it to slide around and get knocked.
Also what lift have you gone for?
