Hi everyone,

I thought I'd post an update with what I've done to my Jimny so far. The main modifications have been modular steel wheels, Jimnybits recovery points front and rear (just one at the front due to a minor accident knocking the front of the chassis rail) and a set of Goodyear Wrangler AT/SAs (205/70/15).

I have also done some pretty thorough rust-proofing underneath, inspired by Kirkynut and some of the other guys. I wirebrushed all of the rust on the underside and went over it all with Hammerite. I started well with several coats of paint followed by the Hammerite spray paint, but I have to confess that by the end I was just using the spray paint on the hard to reach/unaffected areas. I have also done some minor tweaks such as a fire extinguisher mounted inside.

I'm planning on holding off on further modifications until the new year due to finances, at which point my priority will be to replace the springs and shocks which look extremely worn and beaten, Osram headlights and I'd also like to upgrade the speakers.

2004 Jimny Mode: General Grabber AT3s (215/75/R15); Trailmaster 2" Lift; Jimnybits Snorkel; Jimnybits Front and Rear Recovery Points; Suntop Roof Rack; AVM Manual Hubs; Stainless Steel Exhaust System (SOLD)

Nice Jimny you've got there B). I would quite like to do some touring in mine, when time and money allows. I'm also looking to fit fire extinguisher, do have any pictures of where yours is fitted?

Yes it's very satisfying! I'm going to go over it again at some point with the Hammerite/Waxoyle combo in the most vulnerable places, but it was a very messy job so I'm putting that off a little.

This is how I did the fire extinguisher - it's just bolted onto the arm rest in the rear. I worked it out and there is still plenty of space for a passenger to rest their arm. It's just one from Halfords. Unfortunately the photo is too big to upload on the forum, but it's just mounted horizontally. The only issue with it is it rattles a bit over 60mph so I just leave a scarf tucked behind it lol.
