Hi all, I'm new to the forum, new to Jimnys and new to 4x4 offroading having had to give up motorcycle enduros and motorcross (too many injuries and healing to slowly the older I get), an rwd dirt buggy (not powerful enough and kept breaking it) and lawnmower racing (not enough time and kept crashing).

After a couple of gentle greenlaning trips with the kids I'm loving it! I bought the Suzuki Storm Jimny that was advertised on here a couple of weeks ago and it's more than a match for what I have been through so far.

A few pictures of yesterday's greenlaning are attached (I hope!).

Anyone else on here get out on the greenlanes of Surrey?

Certainly feels that way, had a lot of fun motoring around the surrey lanes over the weekend. Anyone know what the safe max lean angle is on a jimny? I know it'll differ with weights of winch bumpers/passengers/ride height but just after a rough idea.

I was wondering the same as I feel like I got close to capsizing on my first trip out, I saw on another forum someone said don't worry your bot will drop before it goes over but I got an app for free that shows angle which is cool and you can set an alarm to go off when you get close just mount my tablet on the dash

Sounds like a useful app - Just need to know what to set it at now! Couple of times laning it felt like we were near the limit, but I strongly suspect we were at least 20 degrees away from it - Beginners nerves, great knowing I have a roll cage, but have no intention of ever needing it! (specially with my daughter in there with me)

I live just outside Horsham, so tend to join the lanes at Trap Lane in Walliswood, then head to Leith Hill, Coldharbour and then aim for Shere, my route tends to be doing the lanes south of Shere before stopping for cheesy chips at Newlands. Next time aiming to spend the whole day, so will be then heading up chalk hill and working my way over towards Bocketts. Naturally once the winter sets in and the lane restrictions come into force it'll be mostly pay and play for me, that's why I want to get out as much as I can until then..

Anyone wanting the app type in clinometer into app store and the one with a PIC of a Jeep on is the one I chose, it works well

I've been over twice, it's not that far before it tips over, mines on a 3" lift. External cage may make it a little top heavy too. When you are leaning over just be careful which way you turn the steering wheel , leaning to the right and turn left and you'll be lying down for a rest!

Hi and welcome again matey. Well done with the thread and photos. It looks like you really are enjoying it. Those lanes look fun. I can see why they have winter tro's with the sandy looking ground.

Enjoy it mate. I think you got a good one.
