My toy......

Another small update:
The curse of ebay strikes again! Found some sj rims and remould muds - i thought close to me - anyway, i won them for £107 and discovered that it was a 140ish mile round trip to pick them up.

They are nice rims and offset nicely, i like them as they're a bit different. They will be cleaned up and sprayed black. The tyres are a bit rough with a few nicks and knocks to some lugs and they have serious overspray on 2 of them but they are perfectly servicable with loads of tread left and saved me fair wedge overall. Sized 195/15 so i presume 80 profile they catch very slightly on the arch liner but otherwise no issues.

In addition to the wheels i've also fitted a set of SJ manual hubs using bigjimny spacer rings. I put up the wanted ad for a single cone washer but when spraying them to tidy them up a bit i noticed the missing one was actually stuck in the hub itself so i had a complete set after all.

I've also fitted a pair of bits4vits shock extensions to the front shocks, another great product from people genuinely passionate about our hobby. At the same time i also fitted a pair of bigjimny rear shock relocation brackets, conveniently the standard bushes from the front shocks cut down nicely to bush the rear brackets. Again a great product.

So all hopefully should go some way to making for a sensible and reliable package off road.

Another small update, no mods just tarting it up really.
Painted the axles with black metal paint as they were looking a bit scabby and done the radius arms with some cheap silver metal paint. Its just handpainted and i've just done some of the vulnerable bits suchs as the radius arm mounts. My pressure washers on the blink so the rest of the chassis looks awful still.





and i've made a start on spraying the new wheels satin black, only the fronts so far though.

I would like to do the whole underside but its a nightmare by hand to get everywhere, spraying would be a right mess, i got paint in my eye last week doing under the "boot". I cut the exhaust off as its shot anyway and cleaned up and painted the body where others have had problems rotting through.

When i have the spare cash i'm going to see these guys www.rust.co.uk/ they're 5minutes away from me. I'm in no hurry to get rid of the old girl so i would like to protect her for the future.

I started waxoyl'ing the front end of mine last weekend.
Had the lights and front bumper off, gave it all a good clean and then used scotch brite on the surface rust. Treated with Rust Remedy and then waxoyl 24hours later.

Looks much better, smells slightly funky though!

Thanks, still got the back to do but i'm happy with the results considering its just a can of smoothrite.

All wheels finished now. Rushed the back though so don't look that good up close - theres a few runs.
Lets face it though they'll look spot on covered in mud!




A quick tidy up of the rear storage:

She's sold now and replaced already with a partner combi effort.

I hope the new owner enjoys it as much as i have!

LittleJimny was waxoyled a year ago by the previous owner, still smells "funky"
