Each time I get back into the defender I am struck by just how much of a wagon it actually is, big, heavy, ponderous thing that it is but in fairness to it there are some things you can only do in a defender especially in farming. As a car though the jimny wins every time.
I think towing is about the only thing you can't do isn't it? I'm not a farmer out there doing it though.

So very wrong.
Some cars are far more reliable than others. And Land Rover are not what you'd call a reliable car when comparing to almost all japanese cars. Toyota especially.
Same thing with Italian and some French cars.
Why do you think that all 4x4's on Greenland, in Africa and similar places with harsh environment are Toyotas? There's a pretty good reason. They are much more reliable and last much longer than any other 4x4, and that's a fact.

For comp use I'd love a Defender. Lots of great suspension, engine, axle stuff available. For all other use requiring a 4x4, I'd get a Land Cruiser or Nissan Patrol, if I couldn't afford a Land Cruiser
