Thought i wouldnt hit a wall so quickly but hey ho!

Can anyone help, my workshop has said the following:

Hi Fraser,

Little bit of confusion here with your Suzuki. Can you clarify something for me please from your V5 document? I have this listed as a JB43 chassis which is an M13A engine code, which means your jeep is a 1328cc. My VRM tells me your jeep is a 1298cc which would make it a JB33 chassis and a G13BB engine code!! Can you check and come back to me so I get the correct parts for you. Unfortunately I don't list a rear crankshaft oil seal either way so that would need to be sourced from a Main Dealer.

Another possibility is that your jeep is built on the newer chassis but Suzuki have put the older engine into it!! Oh joy, I love my job lol!!

The M13A looks like this (and has a cam chain, not belt)

i see i have a confused V5 here!

this is what my info says:

According to my HPI report (no V5 yet) it says M13A-1019248 for the engine number and JSAFJB43V00105170 for the VIN but also says the engine is a 1298cc

and my supplier says:

Lol!! That confuses things even more then because i'm looking deeper into this and the M13A engine which should be only in the JB43 chassis has a timing chain and not a belt!! and the 1298cc should be the G13BB engine on a JB33 chassis and it has a timing belt!! Do you know for sure it has a timing belt and not a chain?

That all seems to match up

If you look at the picture of the G13BB engine there is a black plastic protective cover on the front of the engine as you look at it - this is the cambelt cover. Your engine doesn't have this 'cos it doesn't have a cambelt.

Happy days - you've saved yourself a few quid on a job that doesn't need doing :laugh:

If you'd left the defender dirty till Today, it'd have cleaned its self!!! Ihad a trip down to Oatridge College today, not seen rain like that for ages!!

:ohmy: it was pretty intense yesterday thats for sure, i was nearly using an umbrella in my garage!

The Landy is about to get advertised and is away getting the chequer plates fitted to it so i cant use it. It may still get some use as a support car next weekend if we get the Jimny out for a run as i frequently run out of talent in the boggy stuff! With a 17,000lb winch its handy!

And i meant to thank everyone from yesterday for being so helpful, its a real comfort to know that knowledge is shared so freely and i hope to be a contributing member for a long time!

From the shop here i have a breather kit for the axles

from hopefully KAP a front winch bumper although i have a steel fabricator who may want a piece of the action!

haha i know!

My brother uses a fabricator so the car will go out to him for a measure up and see about a custom cage which integrates into front and rear custom bumpers as well as rock sliders and guards.

I think the advice here is to fit an internal brace through to the external cage for rigidity so goodbye back seats!
