Why not buy an Irish Jimny? They seem to have had a few diesels, I can see two listed on the Internet in Northern Ireland (must have crossed the border.

The picture of one of them doesn't look like a diesel as it doesnt have the vents on the bonnet but the advert claims it is.

Hit the nail on the head. I STARTED with a landy, i.e. my first car let alone 4x4. They both have their pros and cons. Jimnys can't tow much, however then can skip along soft snow, then again changing from the 'snow lane' on dual carriageways back to the more ploughed one cars were using was where I could have used the extra weight. At this time I can't afford or justify the size expense. Oh and on a run up to berwick and back (twice) I managed 36mpg, most in 4wd in 4th gear - the guy in the v8 disco also needed to fill his tank at the end of the day....around 90 litres.
On a side note i'd love a diesel jimny but when others couldn't get their motors to turn over due to waxed diesel and could not stay warm on tickover I really loved my Jim! Sorry for the rant, and slightly off topic. Oh and Peugeot 306 TD's are a common conversion - if it can be called common. I think Rhino Ray supplies kits and will even fit at extra cost.....

EDIT - just seen the post at the top of the page re Rhino Rays, only got as far as P1.
