fault codes

hiya from the isle of man,

2002 jimny..3" KAP springs.....e1000s......jimnybitz shock extenders....NO anti roll bar...... 195 Kumhos.
chassis...JSAFJB33V00123426

I have tried two code readers but neither will communicate with vehicle. Any ideas?? It has the appropriate plug so I presume it is OBD11 compliant.

code reader 1.....pro scan with ELM 327 interface

code reader 2.....Autel Maxscan 405

Both readers work correctly on my other vehicles.

Don't quote me on this but I heard a rumour that although it looks like it's OBDII, it's wired different.
Something like that.
I'm sure you'll find mention of it in the SEARCH facility, top of the page.
Or someone will be along to tell you.

My 2001 Japanese built twin cam works with an elm327, Yours should, unless it has the single cam engine with a cam belt.

? My 53 plate single cam engine with belt works with elm327 ?

Thanks guys, yes, its a single cam and yes all the forums agree it has the socket but it's not wired to be compatible with the readers so it seems that I will just have to resort to the old methods as usual.

Just out of interest, I corrected the caster angle for the 3" lift by drilling two extra holes below the origonals, welding a couple of mini skid plates onto the brackets which both strengthens and protects the bracket and bolt up using the origonal bolts. Simples !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

AND very cheap!!!!!!!

I can't think that a 2002 Jimny would be single cam. They went to twin cam about 2000.

The registration date does not always mirror the manufactured date though.

Are you sure it's single cam?

If it's a twin cam it will be OBD2 but single cams are OBD1

The usual suspects in the way of failed components are cam sensor and lambda sensor(s)/ cat.

What symptoms do you have with your fault codes or do you not have any?

An emmissions test will tell you if it's the cat.
