Jimny Front Body Mounts

Hi all,

Unfortunately someone smacked into my passenger wing on my Jimny a couple of weeks back, so I’m in the process of trying to replace the panel.

to do this, I had to peal back the wheel arch for the first time and was greeted with lots of rust crumbling as the arch was removed, with a large hole in what I believe is the body mount. Image link here:  Link  and attached to post.

Is this safe to drive currently? I’ve seen that you can buy replacements from eBay and the likes of Lamberts engineering but I have no welding experience so was wondering if this would need to be repaired asap or if I can look into this in the coming months, for example.

Unfortunately while I'm not an mot tester that is a dangerous defect repair immediately type issue as it's associated with the body mount. Regardless of when your mot is due that's not roadworthy. Also in the event of a collision the insurance would try void the cover as you know about the state of that area. Sorry but that needs dealing with.
