Poor performance or not used to it?

I have a '99 jimny with the g13bb engine in it. It feels GUTLESS! As in, with me, mrs and two dogs it struggles to climb slight inclines. It seems to struggle much beyond 35mph.

It has on it 205/70/15's which are muds but I'm 99 percent positive my old jimny with a m13 motor with bigger, more aggressive muds was far quicker...

Work I've already completed -
air filter
Plugs
Replaced coils
Higher quality fuel + additive

Any other suggestions to look at? I've already got the usual bearings, kingpins and a few other bits and bobs for it. It starts well, idles well and revs freely, pulls well in first and second but really pointless after that 😂

Cheers

Maybe do dry & wet compression tests to evaluate the general condition of the motor...

It looks like its been abused but had recently had a new head, gasket and so on. I was after something more servicing related to check before I get bored and rip the motor out 😂

it is most time congested cats.

remove catalytic converter and see if it is disintegrated inside. if your model got two (depending on market) the one in the manifold breaks up and the pieces go down the tube and stuffs up no2.

I removed no 1 and changed no2 for a cheap generic one. still pass MOT but that may be just luck.

I've not dealt with cats/manicats for years so it didn't even cross my mind! I was thinking unplug lambda and see if anything changes but I'll pull the manifold off first 👌
