Interesting, I've not seen that type before. I'd be interested to see if it makes much difference. It's a shame they can't seal from both sides, as the Jimny bearings suffer as much from water that has entered past the swivel seal as they do from water coming in through the bearings.

The original ones where changed two years ago at 18 years of use and 160000km. So I can tell you how the new ones do when I pass 300000km sometime in 2040

The pin it self have rtv silicone on it so the rubber here would not help keep water out but more likely grease inside I think..
