Hi Guys,
Just wondering if anyone can help out here.?
I am about the change the oil on my wife's Jimny Gen4 JB74 (Japan import), I bought some oil and filter from opie oils online.
The filter they recommended was the Bosch P2058 (part number 0986 452 058) I have had a look at the Suzuki one under the engine and that is a genuine Suzuki part 16510-81404.
After looking these 2 parts up I cant see any cross reference that says the P2058 Bosch is a direct replacement for the Suzuki 81404
Can anyone let me know if they have used this Bosch in there Gen4 Jimny please or if they know its a good match.
Thanks for all your help
Si
The Car details are
2025 Suzuki Jimny Sierra, All Grip, Auto G/box
1.5-liter K15B four-cylinder petrol engine

I went on the Opie web site and entered the reg of my Gen 4 and it listed the Bosch number- P2058- as a substitute for the Suzuki item. As Opie are a respected company, I see no reason to worry as to their suggestions.
The Suzuki special oil filter removal tool may not fit the Bosch filter so I suggest a fabric strap type tool as space to get at the filter is limited and some claw type removers may not work.

Thanks Roger,
I feel a little more reassured now.
I have carried on with my research over the past few hours and have found mixed results from these part numbers.
I believe that the OEM number 16510-81404 has a date allocation in it and that the 4 at the end is 2024. I have found a lot of cross ref with 81400,81401,81402 and 81403, the the 400 being the most common (used by Bosch, Mann, Febi etc) being used for jimny's after 2019.
I will proceed with my oil change and if I find out anything else about these number I will update the post.
Thanks again
Si

The last digit in a Suzuki part number (the 4 at the end of 81404) is not a date code, it is a supersession code, 81400 was replaced by 81401, which was replaced by 81402, and so on.
This is not unique to oil filters, it's the same with all their parts, but the sequence is more noticeable with oil filters because of how often filters get superseded.
Suzuki does not make their own filters, they buy them in bulk from different manufacturers and every time they switch manufacturers, the part number is changed.
15610 says the part is an oil filter, 81400 (or 81402 etc.) tells you which oil filter.

I asked Mark at Suzuki parts and he has said the new updated part is 16510-82703 it does say it's for 1.0/1.2/1.4 engines though.
There is a Bosch filter (genuine Suzuki part) 501560017 / 16510-82703 (yup same number) and I believe it to be the same Bosch filter that Opie oils supplied me, (0986 452 058) so all good I believe.
I have sent an email to ask Suzuki parts if this part is a 0986 452 058 (though it's unlikely I'll get a reply as the Bosch is 1/4 the price).
If I hear anything I'll post it.
Thanks for everyone's help with this and I hope you all have a good week.
