As far as I know, the washers share the same fuse as the wipers, which I think you said are working, so the fuse is probably intact.
What I would suggest is rather than checking voltage across the connector pins, ground the volt meter to the battery negative and probe each pin at the connector, I suspect both pumps share a common ground, and that may be corroded.

If it suddenly breaks, go back to the last thing that you did before it broke and start looking there

It depends on the model year, and how that relates to the wiring diagrams.
The early ones with a blue/yellow wire and a black wire switched the live(s) to the motors (unless they are late ones), the later ones with a yellow & black wire and a black & yellow wire (unless they have a blue wire and a black wire) the motors are permanently live and the earths are switched. (The manual shows alternative wiring colours for the motors for the late cars)
I'd assume that a 2006 is the earlier arrangement with a common earth and switched lives for each motor.
Either way, the live feed is through the same fuse as the wiper motors, so if the wipers run it is ok.
Probably as you suggest, an earth lead problem whichever version it is

Well that is a little embarrasing. Took connectors off the pumps, cleaned it all up, now working again. I'll get my coat.......
