Ahh - no.
I'm in the Caribbean (a former British colony), and I've driven in several of the islands, a few countries in South America, quite a bit in North America, but not yet made it home to the land of my ancestors.
Quite honestly I expected macadamized or tarmacadam roads there - I know it is possible to build decent concrete roads, I've driven many miles on them in the US, but, it seems we suck at it.

It's not that we can't build decent roads it's that almost as soon as they're finished some utility company comes along and digs them up again and repairs their hole in a way that lasts on average about 4 minutes before turning into a pothole big enough to cost you your suspension.

I'm no stranger to potholes in roads, or to the utility companies & road construction crews inability to coordinate the work, but, what we have is what I will describe as "corrugated concrete" - the sort of corrugations that occur with time on a dirt road, duplicated on newly cast concrete roads.

In a land called England it came to pass that the DoT decided that a section of motorway would be constructed using concrete, a new to them material but one which the Romans had used to great effect and the ensure the concrete would drain adequately they scored the surface with equidistant channels. Big mistake as the channels created a resonance that sounded like the back axle breaking up, with the upshot being lots of cars parked on the hard shoulder waiting for the AA/RAC to rescue them.
I don't like concrete because it was noisy and the laid sections needed expansion joints filled with some fibrous material that didn't last very well and when it broke up you were driving over the joint and created a thump. I haven't seen concrete for many years so i believe they were all covered in asphalt.
