Are (late) Gen3 front differentials the same as Gen4 (2019+)?  Ratio and crownwheel bolt count, I mean.

Thanks in advance to resident gurus.

Gen4 - MT 4.090
Gen4 - AT 4.300
Gen3 - MT 4.300
Gen3 - AT 4.090

And yes, I did double check as they are reversed between versions according to this.

I checked the part numbers between the varients and they are completely different

My research on ratios shows the same "pattern" that Martin found, and like Martin I found it curious that the ratios were "reversed" for the manual & auto models.

For the crown wheel bolt patterns, as far as I know the same ARB air lockers fit both gen 3 & 4 so the bolt patterns should be identical.

I have a SJ RD88 ARB in my jimny so it actually is the same all the way from 1985. I just love that.

Is the spare wheel carrier on the back door also still the same?
It is the same from 1981 SJ tintop thru the gen3 's but still the same on Gen 4's?

Thanks all for the helpful and rapid replies. I'm glad I asked, there is more nuance there than I thought.  I appreciate the depth of expertise here, and the freedom with which the wisdom is shared.

Long story short, I am thinking about adding an electric locker to the front.  Don't hold your breath for project updates, though, as I have probably run out of time to do it before snow season at this point, so it may be next year's task.

@yakuza, about the spare wheel carrier, they look different to me but that doesn't mean the bolt pattern to the door is different. Here's an example of the Gen4 spare carrier.
