We are upgrading one of the radios in the Jimnys to an Android based SatNav/Media unit.
Like a lot of Android units, it uses a USB DAB+ adaptor.
Now before we get the "who on earth uses DAB" answer, can I assure you that DAB is good in my area and I run it on my Jimny, Range Rover and Swift all the time.
The DAB USB stick I have has a limit of 120 stations on it. Again I know you all dont have issues as you never get 120 stations in your area! Well in this area we have over 200. Now I only actually listen to 2 or 3 but the stupid DAB adaptor learns the stations by a frequency scan from Low (Block 8 ) to high (Block 12), By the time it gets to block 12A its run out of memory slots (120) and those of you who are familiar with DAB, the major national stations are on 12B and 12D.
Do any of you have an alternative USB DAB adaptor that is not locked into a low-high scan routine or has a larger memory, or allows spot programming to blocks.
For reference it is an Eonon A503

While I understand the meaning of all the words you have just used I have literally no idea what you are on about. Good luck though.

Sorry Lambert!
Good news though, bit of thinking on the dog walk and I have a temporary work around. Simply reset the radio, unplug the aerial, start a scan and then plug in the aerial halfway through the scan so it only picks up the channels at the higher frequency end of the scan.

Are you sure that it is the USB stick which limits the number of stations it can handle and not the head unit software?
Not sure which head unit software you use, but I have been using DAB-Z. The guy who writes it is very responsive (XDA Forum) and he or another member on XDA might be able to advise.
Sorry Lambert, we are speaking in a language not used on earth much, but it was common place in a distant galaxy a long, long time ago.

Hi Robin,
It is the adapter, the manufacturer confirms it. Dab-Z doesnt work with this adapter anyway. . It would seem possible that the head unit software could be better written instead of commanding a full scan of the entire Dab band. I have suggested to them that at least a change to allow you to scan high-low as well would help.
Do you know the brand of the adapter you use?

I had two of the, both Xtrons, but one failed after 10 months and they refused to replace it, said it was only 6 months, so I just bought a cheapo one from eBay. Xtrons just rebadged that sort of stuff anyway.
My cheapo one is still working fine, but I don’t know if it has a limit on the number of stations.
The author of DAB-Z or XDA forums might be able to recommend a good adaptor.
