Exhaust issue was created by Me and my Jimny
Hi Guys
51 plate gen 3. The engine lights been on for a few years now, power feels a bit more restricted, and there is now a rattle which sounds like inside the cat. Think it's time to get a new exhaust. I've found old threads with the reference to parts in motion on ebay.
I've never done an exhaust before but looks easy to swap from the manifold to the back, but there must be some gotchas, anyone got any tips ?

The main one is getting the oxygen sensors out. It's not impossible but it's also probably easier to accept needing new ones and ordering them to arrive with the exhaust. Just be aware there are many knock off sensors out there and they are less than reliable.

Thanks Lambert, I didn't know about them but will check it out. I think the whole thing is from the factory so at 24 years old it's probably good to change them at the same time

It could be worth getting the engine codes checked to see what the engine light is on for, it might be an O2 sensor in which case fitting new ones in the new exhaust is a good idea.
There might be some variations in exhaust fittings, but if you are replacing the whole system it should all match. The exhaust brackets/bolts will most likely shear off so order new brackets/bolts and just watch out for rusty bolts on the manifold.
