Jimny 2012 BT Issues was created by artstim@gmail.com
Hello! Just recently bought a used jimny 2012 model and I'm absolutely loving it!
I have one issue with the on board android system, and I'm guessing it's probably a compatibility issue, but I'm hoping there is a solution. I can easily connect my phone, but after a short while sound disappears. I'll still be connected, the audio still showing as playing on my phone. To solve it, I have to stop the music, then start again after a few moments.
I'd really like for the sound to be continuous! Any suggestions? Is it at all possible to do firmware updates on this now 13 year old car with an android version 6-something?
Thanks!
Alex

Would really help to know what sort of head unit this is.
To my knowledge no 2012 jimnys had anything as advanced as BT from new so this is most likely something aftermarket.
I doubt if the Android version has so much to say but more the BT version from back then and your newer phone.
edit: My car have what was an OK Pioneer head unit and at start up after about a minute of driving the BT sometimes starts to click in and out making it a pain to listen to until approx 20 sek later it is OK and then stays OK. Cannot remember having that problem with my latest phone actually.. Guess it is just this way with these things. Different makers of BT chips and wifi chips inside these gadgets, and then add the chinesium, makes it kind of hit and miss.

What you say makes sense. Of course the head unit must have been added later, and not actually an original component! Doh! 😣 I'll have to find its make, then see if anything can be done.
Thanks and sorry!

I had an Android head unit in my 2011 Jimny, it was a Xtrons unit, running Octo Version 8, but there are many different models, although a lot of them are the same basic design.
Unfortunately the documentation on most models is poor and what usually happens is that the more 'apps' you run on it, the more things start to go wrong, especially if an app has been added which is not 100% compatible with the specific version of the operating system.
If it Android 6, it is likely to be very old and finding anthing out about it might be an uphill [impossible] struggle. I bought my Android head unit from new and still had issues, even after speaking to tech support, although reading and posting on XDA Forums ( xdaforums.com/tags/android-car-radio/ ) helped greatly.
Good luck with sorting it out.
At least if the radio doesn't work correctly, you still have a great new Jimny to play with.
