According to the information I have the 50A fuse in the main fuse box, in the engine compartment is associated with the ABS. However, if the current changes on this fuse when opening the doors that doesn’t sound right.

If it is a lighting fuse, it most likely feeds the second fuse box under the dash on the drivers side. Pulling some of these fuses might narrow the problem down.

With the keys out and especially locked most circuits are switched off so a large current draw is unusual.

One other problem, mice sometimes get in and chew the cables, is there any evidence of rodent activity?

Hello again Robin. Thank you for the follow-up. Your post made me question my information. It turns out I was working from an inaccurate description of the engine compartment fuse box. The 50A fuse in question is actually the 'passenger compartment fuse box fuse', not the lighting ring fuse. So all I have to do now is pull each fuse in the passenger compartment fuse box until the current draw drops significantly, then I will know which circuit is the cause. I won't get a chance to look at this for a couple of days. I'll report back. Many thanks.

There aren't many circuits which are left live with the keys out and locked.

Clearly the remote central locking is one, as are the door lights and you might find the brake light can be active.

You could fit a Discarnect for £10.  A little inconvenient to use every day and you will lose the time and trip meter settings (in your case, you would not use the bypass fuse option), but it will stop the battery draining while you investigate the cause, and is useful in future as a security feature.
