2004 Jimny Gear knob replacement was created by Schmidt
Hi Guys
I was sure this was going to be as easy as 1-2-3.
I have purchased a new gear knob and thought this would be a 2 minute job.
I can't twist the original gearknob off. After heating it with a heat gun i managed to get the "rubber" itself of, but the hard plastic shell is still on there.
I just want to be absolutely sure that all Jimnys have threaded stick. Would be quite annoying if I break the original gearknob while taking it off only to discover that I can't get the new one on
I guess I need a bigger set of stilsons or just more power to get it off
I have found other topics on this, but just want to be absolutely sure that there are not different knobs on different models

My 2011 was screw on and yes it took a bit of moving as I think they are glued in place.
I assume they were all screw on, but someone with a 2004 will know for sure.

More heat, bigger stilsons and maybe a trip to the gym and I hope I'll make it

My old old 54plate just unscrewed as did all the others. I am built like a gorilla though.
