Hi all, can anybody give me some advice/info on replacing transfer box 4wd switches. My switch at the rear of the transfer box (2 black wires grey plug) has a broken wire and not enough to solder back together. If I just replace the switch will I need to drain transmission first?
ANy help would be great, thankyou all.

I hazard it won’t be a problem. But a quick squiz at its location relative to the fill point will tell all.

Jack the car up so as to move the transfer oil away from the switch. Be ready with the new switch and undo the nut/switch and quickly replace old with new. You may need to stick your finger in the hole etc between swapping over to prevent the oil coming out. No need to drain down.
Note
There’s a free moving ball baring within the switch housing that that must remain in there.
