50-50 drive? was created by JimBru
When in 4wd whats the ratio between front and back drive, is it a pure 50-50? only asking as when in the slippy stuff and in 4wd the back end still likes to go sideways. feels more like 70rear 30 front

Good question Bru, I would imagine 50/50 but no doubt someone with the benefit of actualy having a clue will be along to confirm :)

Have you put your wheel spacers on the front yet? - I wouldn't think having them on the back but not the front would make a difference but hey, you never know :S

The Jimny is a simply mechanical connection. When in 4WD the front and rear axles are effectively connected directly together. There is no wizzy differential or electronics transfering power here, there and everywhere. Therefore its a straight 50:50 split.

If your rears are spinning without either of the fronts turning then you have a problem somewhere. The rears will tend to spin anyway as the rear of the Jimny is lighter making it generally "tail happy" and the normal differential action on the rear axle will find one of the rear wheels to spin if it can.

taking the spacers off was the first thing I done mate, driving in the snow has improved now as front and back can follow the same lines and im not getting pulled all over :P

The 4wd is definatly working the fronts are without doubt turning as well. A simple pull away in 2wd (just spinning) and then 4wd (nee bother) must just be with the back being a lot lighter.

Cheers for the repiles
