Hi, Fellow Jimny drivers.
My first post here, usually hang out on the Jimny.se site which does not appear to be as active as it used to be. Anyone know the latest on what is happening to jimny.se? Will someone take it over from Boris?
I'm in the market to upgrade my 2003 soft top JLX Jimny to a later VVT version, again ideally a soft top as I am attracted by the smoother engine and better performance/MPG
Does anyone have any experience of how the older versions Jimny's with G13 engine compares to the newer M13 VVT versions. Having had a couple of test drives of the VVT version, I have found the push button 4 wheel drive not to be as responisive as the levers in my older model. I'm also not that keen on the ABS and wondered if it is easy to remove the ABS, especially as I would want to increase the tyre size.
Currently i am running 215 75 15 BF Goodridges which have a very stiff side wall and thus bumpy ride. Anyone recommend a suitable mud and snow tyre that is 195 80 15 which does not have such a stiff side wall, yet has fairly good grip and not too much road noise.
Cheers
Paul

Don't know about the VVT engine but for tyres you could look at Marshal or Khumo (they're both the same) KL71 mud tyres. They're not quite as aggresive as some but still highly regarded, very good on the road too and not that noisy at all. Available in 195/80/15.

Many thanks Mick.
Forgot to mention that the BF Goodridges are also difficult to get balanced properly. I seem to have a ton of stick on weights attached to my wheels and get the occasion wheel wobble.
No one got any experience of running a VVT Jimny?

Hi my first time on here and a slight aside from the OP
I have just bought a 07 vvt 2 days ago and have had my first two days of deep snow the tyres on it are the standard bridestone dueller the car is brilliant and is great in the snow comparable to my old landy series 3 but faster and quieter and warmer I am looking to get an extra set of wheels and tyres looking at the black modular 7x15 with some AT tyres or potentially the Kumho kl71 in 195 80 15
or an AT in 205 70 15
will I have any problems with these rims and what tyres would be a good choice I dont want to mod the jimny at the moment.
thanks Just
