EGR blanking plate ? was created by TillymintDLG
Hi Jimnyers, I don't pay too much attention to the new Gen 4 posts as I have a Gen 3 '05.... but I happened to glance at "New Jimny - MORE POWER PLEASE" post and thought about asking if anyone had fitted an EGR plate to the theirs? Now I have fitted one onto to a Ford Focus Diesel I had not so many yrs ago. It frequently used to stall (not every time) when pulling out of a side road into traffic... so came across the EGR blanking option and tried it. Yes, it stopped it dying at low revs!

I should imagine that EGR blanking on modern petrol engine would be more problematic. All the emissions controllers would rebel against the missing EGR circuit. Not sure the gains would be great either. Chris

Mine is blanked on my M18, but I am running ITBs so its not got anywhere to go anyway. Aftermarket ecu as well.

On a standard jimny it would set off the engine management light most likley and probably make either no difference or a very negligible difference.

Might be more worthwhile to look at the inlet manifold. Its ported way smaller than the head

Cheers Chris, I'll give that idea a miss then I think! There are so many sensors etc that can fail now in 'Modern' vehicles....

No gains to be made on a petrol engine - you will just lose part throttle power and throttle response.

Some Suzukis and a bunch of motorcycles.
