Hello everyone,
I have a Suzuki Jimny JB43 2006 with an M13A engine and an R72 gearbox.[r72 broken]
I’m planning to swap it to an R7ME gearbox, but I want to keep my electric transfer case (not change it to manual). i don't need 4/4 usually i still in city only .

Can someone please tell me what parts I need for this conversion?
Any advice or experience would be very helpful. Thanks!

I'm sure you need intermediate propshaft too
Just ask lamberts engineering they will be able to advise on all parts needed,
Also will supply all the parts

If you change the gearbox without changing the transfer case and diffs the gearing will be off. Depending on tyre size your car can get pretty useless with the wrong ratios.  Read the first posts on page one in this thread where it says what parts to change.

all changes in ratios (and tyre size) will affect what rpm you get in different speeds. I spent hours on the grimjeeper calculator to try to find a solution to change out my R72, and for my added power and changes in tyre size with my 235's. It is quite complicated to find a good way to change the R72 and transfer case and get lower gears without them getting to be too low or not low enough. The price for parts and labour will fast end up at more than a refurbished R72 case.
Again, depending on tyre size and how/what parts you change and how much work you can do yourself and what parts you can get used for cheaps. For me doing all the work myself it was an easy choice to refurbish the R72 case myself insted of sourcing all the parts needed. And for the low gear to compensate for my 235's it was also cheaper and easier to change the gears on my transfer case even though I have the driveshafts and SJ low box in stock for other projects.

Hello everyone, I am about to start this conversion and have a couple of questions. I am only doing the transmission and not the transfer case, and will be running 31inch tyres, will this intern make the ratios pretty good? And can I reuse the intermediate shaft to the Tcase?

thanks, this post has been very helpful and informative:)

No it will make the ratios terrible. It's doing the opposite of what you need when running bigger tyres, so will be really sluggish and take a lot more clutch slip to get the car moving.

Ok that is the opposite of what I thought, so what would be the best thing to do? Should I swap to the manual lever transfer case? Or swap diffs?
