Young customer has a Jimny that eats front wheel bearings. Both sides last only a few weeks.
Wheels are standard size, no spacers. Visually things look straight. No leaking oil from Swivels.
Bearings when removed are totally wrecked. The one he brought for me to see was exploded, on a previous one the balls were squared off.
He just arrived tonight to buy another bearing having been here 3 weeks ago. Both front wheels are very hot on the hubs, almost too hot to touch when he arrived. One bearing is only 3 weeks old. They have tried adding grease on installation.
Genuine Koyo bearings.
Any ideas where to look ?

Brakes binding on and boiling the grease out of the bearings, possibly?

I thought of that one as well but he says brakes on at least one side were rebuilt recently so one side should be ok

They are being pressed in square into suitably clean hubs? Is the car consistently being used hard off road in deep runny mud?

Over tighten bearing? Thrust on the bearing? Ware on the shaft or housing?
If both sides are going it’s more than likely a fitting error.

Is he doing them up with a torque wrench to the specified torque, or just a rattle gun?
