Engine oil on transmission housing - where from? was created by asypeer
Jimny 2006, automatic transmission, I added some uv glowing additive to the oil to figure out if I have any leak and after 500 km I can spot some glowing oil on the upper of the transmission bell housing.
Any idea where could this oil come from? The valve cover gasket seems dry, although it’s hard to see the rear of it.
Some images I’ve just took:
Cheers,
Assaf

Err I'm not sure what you are looking at but the glowing thing in the middle of the pink circle is a cable tie not an oil leak? Or am I missing something here?

Could be from the rear crankshaft oil seal maybe?

Are you sure it's oil.
Greenish generally indicates a coolant leak.
Wipe a little up with your finger and if it smells sweet; then it's engine coolant.

If you have dyed the oil for uv then any trace would be very obvious like the cable tie. That makes me think it's possibly not oil but some other contaminants or overspill or something.
