its because its a tallish square box to push through the air so there is more drag therefore lower mpg

I get 26MPG on the motorway at 70mph........

....on the trailer behind my Range Rover Sport 2.7 Diesel (3 tonnes of RRS and probably 1.5 tonnes of Jimny/Trailer)

Which is more economic than driving the 1 ton of Jimny at 17-19 MPG at 60 MPH

I get a constant 26mpg out of the 3.1 diesel Monterey, and from that I've worked out I get pretty much bang on the same from the Jimny. Small it may be but it's certainly not economical :(

I used to drive a Berlingo van Got about 40 - 45 to the Gallon.
Looked into buying one of these Jimnys as the spec on the net said they do about 32-36 mpg which I could live with.
They do about 1/2 what they tell you they do.

I will have to live with it for now as I have not just bought the one I drive every day ( I got another for spares that I took to bits ) but I did pay the price for it.

In reality I think a 200 or 300 Discovery will match these on fuel any day.

The only bonus I have with this is that its a lot lighter for driving the fields in the winter so the ground marks are minimum.
I am only using Standard road tyres and it does work well as a 4x4.
Waste of time having back seats as if you put them up the boot holds about 2 tins of beans and one bag of sugar.

PS: With Manual Hubs locked in and using 4x4 they are a canny bit worse on fuel as well as I found out today.

i have no idea what my jimnys mpg is, its not my everyday car, and im the only one that drives it, so a tank of fuel can last me anything from a day to a month.
