That helps a lot.
So 2007 have a left hand cable entry and pre-2005 have a right hand cable entry (UK cars only!!!)
So you have to have a post-2005 part OR one from a LHD car.

Great many thanks for all that, the cable is not the problem it is a tiny spring underneath the large spring in the picture above, have got one on order now as could not find anything last night on the web and need it ASAP for the MOT as it is my main means of transport.
I will know next time time to come to the font of all knowledge regarding these fantastic little cars before I go on line with the rubbish you have to wade through . I drive an HGV all day so find it very small indeed. It is a left hand cable which runs smoothly in and out, even though the car is an 07 plate it has only done 17,000 miles and been serviced 4 times, the last MOT before I bought her had an advisory of 4 new tyres as the original ones were starting to perish.
Once again a great many thanks for you help I will be on here again very soon I am sure

Hi Daniel, Sorry to go of the subject but I notice that your car has a electric fan, is this a mod or did the later models have that as standard? cheers John
