It's got a new alternator fitted less than 100 miles ago, and the previous owner was 78yo, he just used it to drive to his allotment, so the alternator should be good!?

Yes, it's the double overhead cam engine. The belt chirps before it squeaks, and I read that it does that when the pulleys are misaligned, i wondered if the new alternator had caused the pulley to be out of alignment? But it could be the crank pulley?

I would go for the pulley I paid £171-97 off the main dealer for the pulley and the crankshaft bolt. I got the bolt as it is very tight and anticipated it might get damaged. As it was it came off with my cordless impact driver, which had a fully charged battery to ensure maximum force. Another reason to remove the rad is for access to that bolt. You can get them off the ebay but they worked out more than the dealer!! The bolt was £9.50! Another point is to ensure all signs of old belt is removed from water pump and alternator pulleys using wire brush and sharp pointed tool. The pulley might need easing off with a couple of bolts if tight on shaft.

No eBay APP ID and/or Cert ID defined in Kunena configurationThanks for the info, mickt. I think I'll buy the pulley after listening to what you are saying, this is the one I saw at £124, I think my fan belt code ends in 850.
