As you have to disturb that to do the other and pulley it would make sense to fit it and keep the old one as a spare. It will fit on the alternator and there will be sufficient adjustment for it to function but the makers recommend a tolerance of 5mm max on the recommended "correct length". The figures are the length in mm's.

mickt. My fan belt that's squeaking is a 4pk836. The adjustment is at around half way down the slot on the alternator, is that the wrong belt? My Jimny is a UK 2003 jlx ma13, non air-con.

As I said it should be OK as the factor I spoke to said that within 5mm is recommended so that is as good as a 830.

Just a quick update.
I fitted the new crank pulley, and now it runs perfect!
I checked out the old pulley, and you could see that the rubber was cracked and perished. I also ended up fitting a 4pk833 Gates fan belt.
