Has anybody fitted the spring spacers from Dave @ bits4vits? I'm considering getting some and just wondered how easy they are to fit. I had a look at his fitting manual - the rear axle seems to be a piece of cake - loosen the shock off and slot the spacer in and tighten up. Would the front be as easier seeing as they both live axles - the manual on the website only shows the fitting for the vitara which is slightly different. I'd feel confident to do the rear, but if the fronts different, i'd have to seek a bit more help.
I haven't fitted spacers but have fitted a full lift kit and the front was just as easy as the back to change the springs, which i guess would be exactly the same for the spacers. The hardest part is getting the bolts off as pretty much all of mine were seized solid. I managed to get all but 1 undone (using extreme brute force) which required an angle grinder and a new bolt from Suzuki.
You will probably have to disconnect the brake lines to allow the axle to drop far enough to get the springs out, unless you use spring clamps, which I didn't.
yip the front is just as easy as the rear, word of warning though, soak the bolts in wd40 the day before you plan to do it, my mate didnt and sheared the 2 rear bottom shock bolts.
the whole jimny is super easy to work on, the only part ive not had off/out yet is the engine, but thats coming out this weekend hopefully.
I fitted 2" spacers and shock extensions and found the front a touch easier than the back for some reason.
I already had spring compressors which I used to get a little bit of compression to help get the springs out and back in, but you don't really need them.
As always, and as already stated, the biggest stress is undoing seized fasteners
