Engine whistle on cold start was created by Octodog
Hi all : )

My Jimny has developed a high pitched whistle when I accelerate with a cold engine. It sounds a lot like a kettle boiling.

It seems to stop once I've been driving for a few miles or so, but it's a bit of a concern. Any ideas? Air intake?

Mine did this twice first was clutch bearing but when clutch pedal wash pushed in it went.
2nd time was the little auxiliary pulley on front of engine and that was really high pitched spray some wd40 on it whilst its running see if it stops also check fan is spinning ok as my mates stopped spinning the clutch on fan was knackered and that made a squealing noise

Cheers for the suggestions mate.

It's only occasionally that it does it - just gone out for a short drive and it's very cold outside, no whistle at all.

I'll have a routine look around it this weekend and keep an eye on things.
