baleno or vit 1.6 conversion ? was created by ddaann88
I am looking to change my engine, and was looking at either the Suzuki baleno 1.6 or the vitara 1.6 as these seem the most simple to fit in. reason I would like to change is im wanting better acceleration/top speed and more power. would these be the right engines for me if so which is easier to fit and do you need a conversion plate to fit the baleno engine as I cant find one anywhere. cheers for any help

Hi bud,
I chose to swap mine with the Grand Vitara 1.6 engine because it didn't require the sump and oil pick up pipe change that is required by the others.
Yes you need an adaptor plate (I got mine from Rik at Waterbabies 4x4 - top bloke)
There's a few threads on here with full descriptions and pics so you can see exactly what is involved!
I'll try to post a link for you.
Oh and make sure you have the correct type of engine, if you have the G13bb you'll need the G16b variant.

Its smoother and I don't have to drop down to third gear when going up a hill, there's no real noticeable increase in speed but jimnys where never design for speed anyway :silly:
I use mine a lot to commute so having that little extra refinement makes it that much more of a joy

The 1.6 is a lower revving engine so you won't see much change in top speed without raising the gearing, unfortunately when you get up towards top speed the aerodynamics are working against you.
