Best axles

LR discovery axles as you'll have disc brakes all round and the option to run ashcroft goodies to uprate them, the ones for me will be a pair of 80 serise cruiser axles because they have lockers in as standard and are well over engineered but the only downside is the price and whether a pair can be found

The discovery 2 onwards used wheel bearings that cost even more than Suzuki, not sure why, knew a chap with a discovery 2 reckoned they were over £200 each.

Discovery 1/ RangeRover classic are standard Landrover but a bit wide for a jimny I think

I don't think a 1.6 jimny will blow a land rover diff in a hurry considering they run 2.5 diesels which will have much more torque

LR axles are weak on Land Rovers. But as a jimny has way less power, and weighs half of what a Defender/Disco, it's nothing to worry about.

I would instead look at Samurai axles. They are 50 mm narrower than Jimny axles. But this can be fixed with a couple of spacers.
But with Samurai axles fitted, you can get relatively cheap H/D shafts from the US. And still keep the weight down. Unlike with LR/Toyota 80 series axles and the like.

That's the plan for mine once the engine and cage are done 24 spline rear disc one's tho

Got G wagon under one of mine and Yota 70 series cruiser under the other TBH didn't really have to re new anything on the G wagon axles when I fitted them bar a couple of seals they are Dana style and one well made unit Yota 70 Cruiser axles are only about 1 inch wider than jimny axles just very well built mine has got ARBs each end but picked up a spare set few weeks back with a LSD for reasonable money ok so a LSD aint a locker but is a good starting point also all the bearings and seals are available from Roughtrax for the Yotas so that is a defo benefit Landrover Hmmmmmmmmmmmmm TBH I just couldn't :sick: :sick: :sick: :sick:

Loads of people have been chatting about axle swaps! Now I can't get it out of my head gggrrrr! I see that ora make trusses and gussets for jimny axles, I've also seen a few sj axles that have been sleeved and trussed! Is it worth putting the time and cost in to strengthening the stock ones or just change them!

I reckon LR axles are well up to the job in standard form and cheap as well.. hilux, landcruiser and g-wagen are all great but hard to find..

£120 each is expensive for landy axles :laugh: I paid £150 for pair when I bought mine & that was with all arms with poly bushes

I seen the mention of having the rear discs with the landy axles yes they do on the 24 spline ones but they don't have hand brake on the axle its on transfer box on them

the other thing to think about with landy axles is the diff ratio you will deffo need a low ratio transfer box

ive seen a few pairs for sale on fb for around £100 to £150

its well worth doing they are much stronger than jimny axles & spares are soooooo cheap

standard diff ratio is 3.54-1 so not great like I said deffo need low ratio transfer box to run with theses
