I hadn't realised how straightforward a change out that would be, however, it might take some convincing for my wife to accept getting out to engage 4x4. I had an image of all sorts of levers etc connected to the selector in the cab.
With that in mind, and given that I don't really off road in the jimny (it's a winter car as my main brief is RWD) I think I might persevere with fitting new hoses so any advice on this would be gratefully accepted.
I ripped all my tubing and piping out when I fitted manual hubs. I will get the caliper on the pipes in the morning to measure for you. My reason for junking the vac operation was that I wanted the hubs locked on all the time.

If you wanted the hubs locked on all the time you didnt need to bother with manual hubs you could have justed used the jimny hubs set to locked and bolted back on, and then with the vacuum pipes removed they would always stayed in the locked position.

Yes, thanks that was suggested but I admit I wanted other things too. First, the previous owner had said that the 4x4 wasn't working and at best was unreliable. I don't know how you feel about vac operation but IMHO it is not encouraging. Second, I want to be able to select freewheeling as and when I want to; while I prefer the hubs to be engaged while making local trips if I contemplated a long trip I will want to select freewheeling.
@ OP
I have measured the OD of the piping and it is coming up at 4.2mm The bore of the tubing is showing 4mm but I guess that is because I measured the end that came off the piping and is thus stretched so whether to use 4mm or 3mm silicone is debatable. I used 4mm to shunt off the ends of my remaining pipework but it matters not in my case if the seal is 100%.
