Front Brake Pad Shims was created by Jackdelves
Hello, Can anyone help. I've changed front brake discs and pads on jimny today, but have found new kit had no shims. Are the shims 100% necessary as mine are too corroded to put back on? Have left them off for time being. Can't find anywhere online that sells them, any ideas? Thanks

Have fitted new disks and pads recently and had no shims. All working well enough.

They are anti rattle springs and are a pain in.the backside as they are tight fitting for a reason but other than brake sqeal I can't see any problems to be caused by their absence.

I wish they all had the old SJ type calipers!

The front brake conversion someone has done with Vitara calipers in the My Jimny section uses similar calipers to the old SJ ones. I might look at getting some Vitara calipers and brakets second hand to see if they are s straight fit. I doubt they are but might try it. They need to be off a 1.6 petrol if anyone has the bits already or wants to do it before me.
